Therapeutic Supervised Visitation in Las Vegas, Explained
By The Therapeutic Solution · · 2 min read

Therapeutic supervised visitation is a supervised visit with a licensed therapist guiding the time between parent and child. Instead of only watching and recording, the therapist coaches the parent in the moment, helps the child feel safe, and builds toward healthier contact over time.
It is offered at The Therapeutic Solution as part of our therapeutic supervised visitation service.
How Is It Different From Standard Supervised Visitation?
In standard supervised visitation, a trained monitor is present to keep the visit safe and to document what happens. The monitor generally stays in the background.
In therapeutic supervised visitation, a clinician is actively involved. The therapist may help a parent respond to a child who is quiet or upset, redirect conversations that put pressure on the child, and explain what the child's behavior may mean. The goal is not only safety but also repair. For more on how this fits with reunification therapy, see what reunification therapy is and how it differs from therapeutic visitation.
Who Does It Help?
Therapeutic visitation is often recommended when:
- A child is resistant, anxious, or fearful about seeing a parent.
- There has been a long separation and the relationship needs gentle rebuilding.
- High conflict has put the child in the middle.
- A court, attorney, guardian ad litem, or DFS caseworker wants clinical observations, not only a visit log.
- A parent wants coaching on how to approach their child after a hard period.
What Happens During a Visit?
Every family is different, but a therapeutic visit usually includes a brief check-in, time together with the therapist guiding and coaching, and a short wrap-up. The therapist works with the pace of the child rather than pushing for closeness. Over time, the parent builds skills and the child builds trust.

How Does It Connect to the Rest of the Process?
Therapeutic supervised visitation is one phase of our Continuum of Care, which moves on readiness rather than a fixed calendar. Families may start with a Parent Preparation Program, move through therapeutic visits, and continue into facilitated sessions, reunification therapy, and aftercare as the child and parent are ready.
How to Get Started
For therapeutic visits, a referral from a worker or the judge is required, and each party completes an intake interview separately before visits can start. See our Registration Process for each step, or complete the Parent Intake Form.
Will the therapist's notes be shared with the court?
What is shared depends on your case, releases, and court orders. We explain what is documented and who receives it at intake.
Is therapeutic visitation the same as therapy for my child?
No. The therapist guides the visit and observes the parent-child interaction. It is not individual therapy for the child.
Ready to get started?
Complete the Parent Intake Form and a member of our team will reach out within 2 business days, or call us at (702) 485-1313. If you have an urgent court deadline, call so we can prioritize your intake.
