Responsive intake

Referrals confirmed within 24 hours, with prompt scheduling once all parties complete intake.

Safety first

Controlled, confidential settings with staggered arrivals and departures.

Trained clinicians

Family-centered

A calm, judgment-free environment that keeps the focus on the child.

Drafting the order

Recommended order language

A few phrasing choices help us serve families without sending them back to court for modifications.

State the amount, not the exact times

Because our therapeutic providers are mental-health professionals, we may not be able to accommodate fixed days and times. Specify how much visitation is allowed instead. “Two 2-hour supervised visits per week.”

Name who pays

If the order is silent on payment, the visiting parent pays for all visits and each parent covers their own intake fee. Specify otherwise if intended. “The visiting parent shall be responsible for all visitation and intake fees.”

Authorize documentation release

Confirm that visit documentation may be released to the court and counsel so no return trip is required. “The provider may release visit records to the court and to counsel of record.”

Recommended first step before supervised visitation:

Parent Preparation Program

Download our professional handout — built for attorneys, guardians ad litem, and family court referral partners.

Why This Matters

Supervised visitation without preparation puts children at risk of retraumatization.

When parents enter supervised visitation without structured preparation, even well-intentioned contact can overwhelm a child’s nervous system. Research in attachment and developmental trauma consistently shows that an unprepared parent can unintentionally reopen trauma — not through malice, but through a lack of co-regulation skills, age-appropriate communication, and emotional readiness.

The TTS Parent Preparation Program addresses this gap. It is a 6-session, trauma-informed, structured curriculum designed to ready parents before their first supervised contact — protecting children, strengthening clinical outcomes, and giving courts a documented, voluntary therapeutic engagement on record.

WHEN TO REFER A PARENT

Parents entering first-time supervised visitation · History of DV, substance use, or incarceration · Prolonged absence from the child’s life · Children exhibiting contact resistance or refusal · Active family reunification therapy cases · Court-ordered therapeutic services prior to unsupervised contact

What's in the Handout

A one-page clinical overview you can use today.

Readiness before reunification isn’t a delay — it’s the clinical intervention that makes reunification work. The Parent Preparation Program exists because children deserve parents who arrive prepared to meet them where they are.

For Your Practice

Use this handout as a referral tool, not just a read.

Share it with clients who are preparing for supervised contact. Include it in your case materials. Reference it in court filings. Every parent you refer through our preparation program arrives to their child with more capacity — and that outcome reflects well on the work you do for your clients.
